The post of President is a constitutionally dignified one. The BNP government wants to give the highest appreciation to this prestigious post even at the time of farewell.
The government wants to give a farewell reception to the recently resigned President Md. Shahabuddin after completing the necessary formalities at Bangabhaban. Accordingly, he is scheduled to leave Bangabhaban on the next working day, Sunday (July 26), after completing all the formalities.
A responsible official at Bangabhaban said that there will be arrangements like a guard of honor for the outgoing president. These arrangements may be held on Saturday or Sunday.
President Md. Shahabuddin’s resignation letter was submitted to Speaker of the National Assembly Hafiz Uddin Ahmed on Friday (July 24). The Speaker accepted the President’s resignation at 5:01 pm.
Md. Shahabuddin had been expressing his hope for a dignified departure even before his resignation.
